lyrics
We could never find that shop again
whose proprietor showed us that mezzotint
depicting the following:
Across the lawn of an old stone house
a figure crawls on all fours
covered in grey tattered linen
of its anatomy nothing may be distinguished
save for one arm which extends toward the house
scaly, rugose and so frightfully thin.
In its paw scintillates an object:
it's an inter-dimensional portal!
Which one might say it's offering to the
badger and fox who are asleep
in the hammock on the porch
and don't seem to notice.
